In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Kabir shared that when the producer of Kurbaan approached him with the film’s story, he was excited. The plot involved two major characters, played by him and Sunil Dutt, but the team needed a young actor for the romantic lead.Bedi recommended Salman Khan, who had just begun his acting career and seemed promising for the role.
Kabir revealed that after his suggestion, the team approached Salman Khan, and Ayesha Jhulka was also signed for the film. During the extended filming period, Salman delivered four back-to-back hits. As a result, his role in Kurbaan was expanded beyond a single song, with additional scenes and songs added to give him a more substantial part.
Kabir Bedi shared that while the main storyline of Kurbaan focused on him and Sunil Dutt, Salman Khan’s rising popularity led to a shift in the film’s focus. Their scenes were reduced, and the songs, especially the ones featuring Salman and Ayesha Jhulka, took center stage, boosting the film’s appeal. Bedi emphasized that this was the producer’s decision, not Salman’s fault. He praised Salman for his generosity, calling him a great actor with a big heart, who has helped countless people in the industry.
