The Telugu film ‘Kalki 2898 AD‘ was released in theatres on June 27 and the movie has grossed more than Rs 1200 crore at the box office becoming the world’s fourth highest grossing Indian film. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan in lead roles. The mythological science fiction has now achieved a new feat by completing 50 days of run in theatres.
Sharing a special poster on Independence day, August 15, the makers expressed their gratitude to the audience and thanked them for the overwhelming support.The film in India has grossed Rs 800 crore at the box office and it managed to gross Rs 300 crore at the overseas market and the film achieved multiple milestones in both regional and international levels. The film is soon expected to end its theatrical run as it is gearing up for its digital premiere on OTT.
‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is about the birth of Kalki, 10th avatar of lord Vishnu and how immortal Ashwathama, who was cursed by Krishna with the help of reincarnation of Karna, protects the Kalki in womb of a woman from the supreme power Yaskin. This fictional drama also stars Pasupathy, Shobana, Anna Ben, Disha Patani, Brahmanandam, Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur and Vijay Devarakonda in special appearances.
