Seven years after making box office history with ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, the actor has checked in his second Rs 1000 crore movie at the worldwide box office.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, this sci-fi epic that was released on June 27, has now become only the seventh Indian movie to join the prestigious 1000 crores club.It managed to achieve this in just 25 days. According to Sacnilk.com, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is now only the third Telugu-origin film and fourth South Indian film to reach this milestone.The film has grossed an estimated Rs 990 crores globally in the first 24 days, and on its 25th day, it added over Rs 10 crores, pushing its total to Rs 1000 crores. The blockbuster grossed an estimated Rs 730+ crores in India and an raked in an estimated Rs 270+ crores from overseas markets.
Additionally, the film has become the third highest-grossing South Indian movie at the Hindi box office, surpassing SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’. Box office reports indicate that the movie earned an estimated Rs 271 crores nett on Day 24, to claim its spot on the list of the highest-earning South Indian films dubbed in Hindi. ‘Baahubali 2’ remains the top South Indian grosser in Hindi with an approximate collection of Rs 511 crores nett, followed by Yash’s ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ which earned around Rs 435 crores nett.
According to early estimates, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is expected to add Rs 5 crores on its 25th day, bringing its total Hindi collection to over Rs 275 crores.
With this, Prabhas now equals Shah Rukh Khan and SS Rajamouli’s record of celebs with two films in the 1000 crore club.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone has scored her third Rs 1000 crore film. She previously starred in ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’ that crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark last year.
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, recorded his first Rs 1000 crore film.
