Indian 2 , directed by Shankar, is a sequel to their 1996 blockbuster film Hindustani, which sees Kamal Haasan stepping again into the shoes of freedom fighter Senapathy.The film has been facing the wrath of the audience and critics from the first day itself, the reaction was so severe that the makers had to edit the film by 20 minutes on the second day itself, hoping for a revival. But the collection of the film has been dropping with each passing day and on Monday, the film further crashed.
On Sunday, the film had earned about Rs 15.35 crore across languages, and on Monday, the number dropped down to almost Rs 3 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk. The collection drop in Hindi has also been sharp, where it collected Rs 1.4 crore on Sunday, and managed just Rs 35 lakh on Monday.The total collection of the film in Hindi now stands at Rs 4.25 crore ( Friday- Rs 1.2 crore and Saturday Rs 1.3 crore).
Though in North America, the film’s collection dropped as well, on Sunday, it earned US $ 150,000, and on Monday it dropped to just US $ 21,000. On the other hand, Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD made more than double of Indian 2 numbers on Monday despite running in its 4th week.
Indian 2 also features Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Agarwal and SJ Suryah.
