Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 mints just Rs 1.2 crore in Hindi on Saturday | Hindi Movie News Filmymeet

Kamal Haasan began 2024 on a good note as his film Kalki 2898 AD earned more than Rs 560 crore and is still running to packed houses. A similar reception was expected from his second film Indian 2 – a role he steps into after a gap of more than two decades. The film takes the story of Senapathy ahead which director Shankar had left behind in 1996.

However, the film has been marred by mixed reviews and negative word of mouth, and the impact can be seen on the film’s collection.The film in Hindi on its first day, earned Rs 1.2 crore, and on second day also, the collection remained stagnant at Rs 1.2 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk. In fact, the film also faced a drop in Tamil language collection, where the numbers dropped from Rs 16.5 crore on day 1 to Rs 13 crore on day 2. The drop was witnessed in Telugu versions as well, where the numbers dropped from Rs 7.9 crore to Rs 2.5 crore.
Going by the audience reaction, the makers have trimmed the film by nearly 20 minutes and are hoping for a revival in the fortunes of the film. The film also has a third part, a glimpse of which was showcased during the end credits of the second part, which is slated to release next year. It would be interesting to see the fate of the third part given that the second installment is facing a lull at the box office. Even in North America, the film is facing a drop while minting US $ 900,000 from its premiere shows, and day 1 numbers standing at US $ 479,576.
The film also features Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Agarwal and SJ Suryah.
