The first week saw a collection of around Rs 64.3 crore, but subsequent days showed a sharp drop in revenue.
Directed by Siva, ‘Kanguva’ is set against two timelines and follows the story of a bounty hunter and a tribal warrior fighting against colonization. While the film was marketed as a grand cinematic experience with high production values, it received mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike. Many felt that the second half of the film did not resonate well with viewers, leading to disappointment. Initially, the film also faced criticism by the audience for the music being too loud in the cinema.
Despite its star-studded cast, which includes Disha Patani and Bobby Deol, both making their Tamil debuts, Kanguva faced tough competition from the successful film ‘Amaran’, which has been dominating the box office.
‘Kanguva’ is struggling to reach the Rs 100 crore mark.
