Kareena Kapoor Khan recently reflected on one of her most iconic fashion moments, her peach-colored lehenga from the song ‘Bole Chudiyan‘ in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham‘. During the NDTV World Summit 2024, the actress shared how lucky she felt to have worn the outfit, which became an instant sensation after the film’s release.
Designed by celebrity fashion designer Manish Malhotra, the lehenga made waves in the fashion world.Kareena revealed that Malhotra sold many replicas of the outfit due to its immense popularity. She said, “Leja Leja jo lehenga tha, I think Manish ne itne saare lehenge beche because people took to its color, the cut, the song. It’s been having its moment, and I feel lucky to have been part of that.”
The peach blouse and palazzo-style bottom, which gave the illusion of a fish-cut lehenga, became a trendsetter, particularly for bridal and festive wear. The song ‘Bole Chudiyan’, featuring Kareena along with Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol, Amitabh Bachchan, and Jaya Bachchan, remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved tracks.
Kareena’s character, Poo, became an instant fashion icon with her stylish outfits throughout the film, and the ‘Bole Chudiyan’ lehenga is still referenced in fashion conversations today. ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, directed by Karan Johar, remains a Bollywood classic, and Kareena’s outfits from the movie continue to inspire fashion trends decades later.
