‘Refugee’, directed by J.P. Dutta, was released on June 30, 2000, and introduced Kareena Kapoor alongside fellow debutant Abhishek Bachchan.The film, which dealt with the themes of love and separation set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition, received critical acclaim and also marked Kareena’s first step into showbiz.
