Akshay Kumar’s lean phase persists, even though his latest release, Khel Khel Mein, has managed to perform decently at the box office, holding its ground against the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-led Stree 2. Since the pandemic, Akshay has faced challenges in attracting audiences to theaters, with only OMG 2 and Sooryavanshi standing out as exceptions in an otherwise difficult period

Khel Khel Mein is directed by Mudassar Aziz, and has a stellar cast of Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, Pragya Jaiswal, and Aditya Seal.The film earned Rs 26.1 crore in the first two weeks.
On third Friday, the film earned Rs 65 lakh showing 0 % growth as the film had earned the same amount on Thursday. On Saturday. the film showed a near 70% jump, to collect Rs 1.1 crore, and on Sunday, the collections jumped to Rs 1.25 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the second weekend collection to Rs 3 crore, and overall collection to Rs 29.1 crore. The film has got a new lease of life with the postponement of Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency because of censor issues, which gives another full week of run with only Stree 2 as major competition.

Akshay has a very interesting slate of films lined up, from Sky Force releasing on 2nd October to Singham Again on Diwali to Welcome to the Jungle, Jolly LLB 3 and The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair next year . He also reportedly has joined hands with Siddharth Anand for his next, being directed by Milan Luthria.
