Akshay Kumar’s lean phase continues with his latest release Khel Khel Mein. Since the pandemic, Akshay Kumar has given only two clean hits with Sooryavanshi and OMG 2. With Khel Khel Mein, fans were expecting a revival for the star as he returned to the comedy genre with the support of a stellar cast of Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, Pragya Jaiswal, and Aditya Seal.The film released on August 15 and ended up clashing with box office juggernaut Stree 2 and his close friend John Abraham’s Vedaa. Stree 2 has emerged victorious as Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein struggle to survive.
Akshay’s film on August 15, Thursday, earned Rs 5.05 crore and on Friday it dropped to Rs 2.05 crore. Khel Khel Mein saw a small spike on Saturday and Sunday, collecting Rs 3.1 crore and Rs 3.85 crore respectively. On Monday, which was Raksha Bandhan, the film collected Rs 2 crore and Tuesday, which was its first official weekday, the film collected Rs 1.2 crore. On Wednesday, the film managed a steady stance with Rs 1.04 crore, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 18.29 crore, reports Sacnilk.

Akshay has a very interesting slate of films lined up next, from Sky Force releasing on October 2 to Singham Again arriving during Diwali. He also has Welcome to the Jungle, Jolly LLB 3 and The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair scheduled for release in 2025. A recent report also suggested that Akshay has joined forces with Siddharth Anand for his next production venture, which will be helmed by Milan Lutharia.
