Hollywood stars Lupita Nyong’o and James Gunn have paid heartfelt tributes to the late Chadwick Boseman, marking four years since the ‘Black Panther‘ star’s untimely passing.
On Wednesday, August 28th, Nyong’o took to Instagram to honour her friend and co-star, sharing a poignant tribute that included a black-and-white photo of Boseman, followed by a snapshot of the two sharing a laugh on the red carpet.In her caption, the actress reflected on the enduring nature of grief, quoting, “Grief never ends. But it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It’s the price of love.” She concluded her post with the simple yet powerful words, “Remembering Chadwick Boseman. Forever.”

Director James Gunn, known for his work on the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also commemorated Boseman’s death anniversary by sharing never-before-seen photos from the set of ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ the actor’s final appearance as T’Challa, the king of Wakanda. Gunn’s tribute was brief but heartfelt, captioned with, “Rest in Peace.”

Boseman, who kept his four-year battle with colon cancer private, became a global icon through his portrayal of T’Challa in Marvel Studios‘ 2018 blockbuster ‘Black Panther’. His death in 2020 shocked fans and colleagues alike, as he had been set to reprise his role in the sequel ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘. Following his passing, the filmmakers decided to honour his legacy by rewriting the script and retiring the character rather than recasting the role.
