Pakistani actress Mahira Khan revealed a valuable lesson she claimed to have learned from Bollywood’s King Khan and her co-star Shah Rukh Khan while they were filming ‘Raees’. On X (formerly Twitter), she started a segment called #AskMahira, inviting her fans to submit questions.
When questioned about what she had learned from working with SRK, Mahira only responded with those timeless words, “Give happiness a chance, baby.”
At the 2016 Faiz International Festival, Mahira Khan recounted the incident that best encapsulated her family’s reaction when they found out she would be starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The actress’s family did not believe her at first. The actress had to clarify that she was in fact cast opposite SRK. Her mother broke down in happy tears upon hearing the news.
Mahira also talked about how she bagged her role in ‘Raees’. She shared that she had learned about a “big film” while promoting her previous soap opera, ‘Humsafar’. She was confused about the details when she discovered that it was an Excel production. But when she demanded the script, she received the answer, “What yaar! It is a Shah Rukh Khan film”.
Mahira’s highly regarded film The Legend of Maula Jatt is scheduled to be released in Indian theatres on October 2, 2024. After a lapse of over ten years, a Pakistani film is making its Indian premiere for the first time. The film, which also stars Fawad Khan, would initially be shown in a small number of Punjabi theaters.
The ‘Legend of Maula Jatt’ became the highest-earning film in Pakistan after its 2022 release, setting box office records along the way. The producer was quoted by Money Control claiming that it has a bright future in India, “It has a great chance to become a huge hit.”
It was decided to limit the movie’s release to Punjab in order to avoid any controversy or negative feedback and to find out how Indians now feel about Pakistani movies. If the agency receives a positive reaction, it may decide to allow its release in other states of the country.
Based on the 1979 Pakistani film of the same name, ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ depicts the animosity between the characters Maula Jatt and Noori Natt, played by Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi, respectively.
