The 34-year-old actress, best known for her role in ‘Barbie‘, is pregnant with her first child with husband Tom Ackerley, media reports confirmed on Monday.
Speculation about Robbie’s pregnancy began to circulate on social media on Sunday, when she was spotted on vacation with Ackerley, wearing a crop top that showed off her growing baby bump.In the photos posted by Daily Mail, Robbie was seen boarding a boat in Lake Como, Italy. The actress’ exposed midriff immediately sparked chatter online about her rumoured pregnancy. The confirmation about the couple starting a family was confirmed by People over the weekend.
This will be the first child for the couple who have been together since 2013. Robbie and Ackerley first crossed paths on the set of the World War II drama ‘Suite Francaise’, where she starred in an acting role, and he worked as an assistant director. Their relationship blossomed a year later, leading to their marriage in December 2016 during a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia.
Rumours of the actress wanting to start a family began soon after she announced her plans to take a step back in her career, while riding high on the success of her $1 Billion film ‘Barbie’. Shocking many with her decision to pull back on films at the heights of her career, she said in an interview with Deadline that she might “disappear” from screens for a while. “Everybody is probably sick of the sight of me”, she said, citing the success of the film and their aggressive promotional campaigning.
Margot and Tom have also been collaborating professionally through their production company. Together, they have produced a string of successful TV and film projects, including ‘I, Tonya’, ‘Birds of Prey’, ‘Saltburn’ and ‘Barbie’.
