Matty Healy, frontman of The 1975 is engaged to his model girlfriend, Gabbriette Bechtel.
The happy news was confirmed by Healy’s mother, English actress Denise Welch, who went on air on the ITV talk show ‘Loose Women’. “I’ve obviously known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged,” Welch revealed. “And I woke up this morning to see that they put it on Instagram.”
Welch’s announcement came shortly after Bechtel gave fans a look at her huge ring featuring a large black gem on her finger.She captioned the image as, “Marrying The 1975 is very Brat,” and tagged Healy’s account.
According to Healy’s mom, the ring features a black diamond in the centre surrounded by smaller diamonds. The hunk reportedly custom-made the ring for his wife-to-be. “I couldn’t be more thrilled,” Welch said.
This caption is a nod to Charli XCX‘s latest album, “BRAT.” Charli is also engaged to The 1975 band member George Daniel.
Healy shared Bechtel’s post on his own Instagram story, further confirming the engagement.
Before going public with his romance with Gabbriette, Matty was romantically linked to Taylor Swift. Buzz is that the singer took inspiration from their brief fling to write some of the standout songs in her new studio album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
