Nia Sharma plays the main antagonist in the supernatural show Suhagan Chudail.
Indian shows are known for their hyperbolic storyline and theatrics. Often people judge the quality of a show by its name. Many would agree that the name “Suhagan Chudail” has an exaggerated tone to it. Recently, the show’s main antagonist, Nia Sharma who is playing a witch in the supernatural series, revealed that when she first heard the show’s name she was “dead against doing it.” Talking about her initial rejection of the show, the actress told ETimes, “When I first heard it, my reaction was I’m not going to be a part of a show like Suhagan Chudail. Who does that?”
Nia Sharma, who is known for her work in Colors TV’s Ishq Mein Marjawan and Vikram Bhatt’s web series Twisted, shared that she changed her mind after having seven meetings with the show makers who tried convincing her that the role was perfect.
Sharing how she was convinced, Nia Sharma revealed, “They told me Nia whatever you are saying no to is actually made for you. They wanted a girl who sways men away. The girl should have a USP, she should be so attractive that every guy should fall for her. That’s the kind of Chudail they wanted for the show. This Chudail had to be sultry, who can just play around with her beauty and mesmerise men.”
The actor added that when she finally agreed to do the role, she felt like a “rookie” on the set despite having acting experience of more than 10 years. She relied on the director’s guidance before she was able to immerse herself in the role and do justice to the character.
Suhagan Chudail is now streaming on JioCinema. Sharma plays Nishiganda who is a “chudail” (witch) with a desire for eternal youth. Sharma told ETimes that Nishiganda needed to kill 16 men to earn immortality by pleasing dark forces. Every red moon night she sets out to look for a new husband who she then kills in exchange for power. Actors Zain Ibad Khan and Debchandrima Singha are also part of the cast.
This is not the first supernatural show done by Nia Sharma. She previously played Brinda Parekh in Nagin 4, a television series about shape-shifting serpents. It was produced by Ektaa Kapoor under Balaji Telefilms.
