Hollywood star Pedro Pascal has had a busy year, with a list of exciting film and television projects. While fans wait for his turn as a Roman army general in ‘Gladiator II‘, the actor will be taking over the big screen in the critically acclaimed animated film ‘The Wild Robot‘.
The movie, which is an official adaptation of Peter Brown’s award-winning bestseller, directed by three-time Academy Award nominee Chris Sanders, currently boasts of a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.Pascal, known for his versatile roles, voices the character of Fink, a fox in the animated feature that also stars Lupita Nyong’o, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Kit Connor, and Stephanie Hsu.
Speaking about his collaboration with Sanders, Pascal shared his admiration for the celebrated director. He said in a statement, “I’ve seen a lot of Chris’ movies, and I’ll embarrassingly admit that, as a grown adult, I once wished for my birthday to see ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ on IMAX,” Pascal said.
“Birthdays aren’t my thing, but that was my excuse to indulge. I know how essential Chris is in creating entire worlds and infusing performances with colour.”
Pascal revealed that Sanders played a pivotal role in guiding his performance and interpretation of the fox. “Initially, I approached it with ideas of sounding cool and funny, like how you’d imagine a fox would be,” he explained. “But Chris helped me move away from those artificial ideas and encouraged me to embrace my own sense of humour, colour, and ability to be ridiculous. He gave me permission to take big swings and go for it, which was liberating.”
‘The Wild Robot’ follows the journey of Roz, a shipwrecked robot voiced by Nyong’o, who learns to survive on an uninhabited island. Along the way, she forms unlikely bonds with the island’s wildlife, including Pascal’s character Fink, as well as a possum, a goose, and a gosling. The film blends themes of technology and nature, bringing Peter Brown’s beloved story to life under Sanders’ direction.
The film will release in theatres across India on October 18, in English and Hindi.
