While Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD has witnessed a slowdown of significant proportions in India, in North America the film has been going strong right from its premiere shows. The film now holds the record for highest collection for premiere shows in the circuit for an Indian film with US $ 3.9 million, previously RRR held that record at US $ 3.5 million.The film on the first day, minted about US $1.66 million, taking the collection to over US $ 5.5 million.
Even on day 2, the film has been showing great numbers. It once again clocked in US $ 1.6 million till late evening, thus taking the overall collection to US $ 7.11 million ( 59 crore), this number is expected to jump by the time night shows are completed.The film is expected to cross US $ 10 million mark over the weekend, a record held by Bahubali 2- The Conclusion since 2017.
Kalki 2898 AD is Nag Ashwin’s first attempt at a mythological sci-fi futuristic film with a stellar cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone with special appearances by Vijay Devarakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Ram Gopal Varma, SS Rajamouli and Mrunal Thakur. The film will soon go into the shoot of its second part, which will see Amitabh Bachchan’s character Ashwatthama and Prabhas’s character Bhairava/ Karan team up to take on Kamal Haasan’s character Supreme Yaskin to bring the last incarnation of Lord Vishu- Kalki into the world.
