Director Nag Ashwin on 10th June, released the trailer of his visionary sci-fi mythological film Kalki 2898 AD and the response for it has truly been exemplary! And the direct effect of it can be seen in the North American ( United States of America and Canada) circuit which has seen an addition of nearly US $ 200,000 to the overall advance booking in just one day
A day before the trailer’s release, the film in the North America circuit had earned about US $ 555,000, out of which US $ 515,778 came from the USA.And now, post the trailer release, the US numbers have jumped to US $ 700, 394 ( Rs 5.84 ) from 337 locations and having sold over 22,000 tickets. Canada, which was hovering at about US $ 39,000, has now jumped to nearly US $ 59,000, thus taking the overall advance booking collection of the film to US $ 760,000 ( Rs 6.34 crore).
The film, starring names like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani and Dulquer Salmaan is all set to release on 27th June, with its first screening in the USA on 26th June. Going by the trailer, one can understand that Amitabh Bachchan is playing the mythological role of Ashwathama, who has been cursed to live till the end of Kaliyug by Lord Krishna, and Deepika Padukone is the mother who will give birth to the 10th reincarnation of Vishu, who is called Kalki, and thus bring the end of Kaliyug.
