Bollywood actor Purab Kohli, who gained fame as the flamboyant drummer KD aka Kedar Zaveri from ‘Rock On’ (2008), has carved out a successful career across various entertainment mediums. Since 1998, Purab has worked in TV, films, and now even OTT platforms. Recently, he shared his thoughts on Indian actors making a mark in Hollywood in a DNA interview.
According to Purab, the late Irrfan Khan stands out as the only Indian actor who truly achieved success in the Western film industry.”There are many actors who have done fabulous work internationally,” Purab noted, mentioning legendary performers like Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, and Anupam Kher. He also acknowledged Priyanka Chopra‘s impressive contributions to Hollywood.
“For me, Irrfan was the only actor from the Indian diaspora who made it big. He made a respectable name and secured lead roles in major Hollywood films like ‘Life of Pi’ and ‘The Namesake’,” Purab stated.

On the work front, Purab Kohli is currently balancing his career and personal life between London and Mumbai. The actor has relocated to London with his family and often travels between the UK and India for various projects. Purab also revealed about his work in an interview, that he finds traveling between London and Mumbai ‘hectic and hard,’ but he enjoys it because of the exciting projects he’s getting.
In addition, the actor also shared that he moved to London primarily to pursue work in the western side of the world. He had previously worked on the Netflix show ‘Sense8’ when the platform was not yet available in India. For him, the idea was to work in the West as well, and he is still working towards that. It’s challenging because his primary income and family are based in London, so he keeps coming back.
