The Tamil film ‘Raayan’ was released in theatres yesterday and movie on day 1 of its release grossed Rs 12 crore at the box office. The film is now running steady amidst the release of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘. Directed by Dhanush, the film marks his second directorial and it his 50th film in acting career. The movie stars Dhanush, SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan and Aparna Balamurali in lead roles.The music for it is composed by AR Rahman.
The film on Saturday fought at the box office with the English film ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ and it has grossed Rs 13 crore at the box office and in two days it has made more than Rs 23 crore. The film is soon said to cross Rs 30 crore mark as the movie on Sunday is running with a 90% occupancy in theatres.
Apart from Tamil Nadu, the movie is running well in Telugu states as well and it has grossed 1.45% of the whole collection in Telugu. The movie received a lot of positive response and it was expected to hike more on Saturday, but because of its clash with the English film in theatres, the movie did not go up as expected.
