The much-awaited trailer of Yek Number, a film based on Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, was launched on Wednesday (September 25) in Mumbai. The event saw the presence of industry stalwarts like Aamir Khan, producer Sajid Nadiadwala, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, and Ashutosh Gowariker.
During the launch, Rajkumar Hirani shared how the film’s inception came about. He revealed that he first heard the story 1-1.5 years ago and was initially unsure of how it would be executed, given its complex narrative.However, after watching the final version two weeks ago, Hirani was deeply impressed.
He admitted he had some reservations before the screening, as he tends to fall asleep if a movie doesn’t hold his attention. However, Yek Number kept him engaged from the first frame to the last. Hirani praised the film for beautifully depicting Maharashtra and seamlessly connecting various elements in the storyline.
“I saw this film finally 2 weeks ago. And they called me for a trial. And here I am a little scared to go. Because I have a very strange habit that even if I am bored for 5-10 minutes, I go to sleep. I told that to Sajid bhai. Once he called me, I went to sleep. So, genuinely I have a lot of problems. So I got scared and went. I thought that I can’t sleep here. But I can’t tell you because I am saying it from my heart. I kept watching this film like this from the first frame to the last frame. And it is an entertaining film. It is saying something very beautiful about Maharashtra. And all those aspects that I was thinking that how will he connect all those aspects, he connected all of them and came here,” Hirani said.

Hirani also applauded the film’s music by Ajay-Atul and the hard work of the entire team, including Tejaswini, who played a significant role behind the scenes.
He added, “I went out and called Rajesh. Rajesh was out of India at that time. I talked to him for half an hour. I told him that this is such a different film that you have made. And making such a film after his last mandatory film. So it is a lot of fun to watch. Our dear friends, Ajay Atul’s music is amazing. So congratulations to all of you. Tejaswini ji, where are you? I saw him working so hard in the office. So big congratulations to the entire team.”
Yek Number promises to be an entertaining film with a powerful message, leaving audiences eager for its release. Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, the film has been written by Tejaswini Pandit and Dhairya Gholap, Ajay-Atul has composed the music and it has been produced by Zee Studios, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Sahyadri Films.
