Rajpal Yadav recalls how he got star treatment when the ‘Shool’ crew realised he was famous | Filmymeet

Rajpal Yadav recently reflected on how his treatment on the set of the film ‘Shool’ shifted dramatically once the crew realized his popularity. Initially, Yadav, who was a relatively unknown face in the film industry at the time, was treated as just another day player. Though Yadav wasn’t a popular face in cinema he had gained a lot of recognition through his role in the television show ‘Mungeri Ke Bhai Naurangilal’.
In a recent interview with Ashoke Pandit, Yadav recalled the shoot of ‘Shool’. He landed a minor role in ‘Shool’ through a connection with Anurag Kashyap, who informed him and other National School of Drama graduates, including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, about the film. Upon joining the shoot in Bihar, Yadav was advised by the director to conduct himself properly in front of lead actor Manoj Bajpayee, despite Yadav already being acquainted with him.
Upon arriving at the location in Motihari, Yadav recalled the crew’s surprise when they noticed the crowd’s reaction to his presence. The crew, primarily from Hyderabad, had packed several actors, including Yadav, into a cramped Mahindra vehicle. As Yadav exited the vehicle, he heard people in the crowd shouting, recognizing him as the character from Mungeri Ke Bhai Naurangilal.

When one of Varma’s cousins remarked that the crowd had gone wild for someone named ‘Nauranghiya’, it was Manoj Bajpayee who identified that the crowd was excited to see Rajpal Yadav. The ‘Shool’ actor recalled how his transport arrangements were immediately upgraded, as he left the set in a car by himself, similar to the star treatment afforded to Manoj Bajpayee and co-star Raveena Tandon!
