Telangana Minister Konda Surekha recently made a controversial remark about Samantha Ruth Prabhu for which the entire Telugu film industry condemned her. Now, actress Rakul Preet Singh has extended her support to Samantha and strongly disapproved of the statements made by her over Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s divorce.
Taking to X, Rakul Preet Singh expressed her disappointment and she slammed the female minister for dragging her, Samantha and other actresses’ name for political controversy. Her post read, “Telugu Film Industry is known worldwide for its creativity and professionalism. I’ve had a great journey in this beautiful industry and am still very much connected. It pains to hear such baseless and vicious rumours being spread about the women of this fraternity. What’s more disheartening is the fact that this is being done by another woman who’s supposedly in a very responsible position. For the sake of dignity, we choose to remain silent but it is misconstrued as our weakness. I am absolutely apolitical and have nothing to do with any person/political party, whatsoever. I urge you to stop using my name in a malicious way to gain political mileage. Artists and creative personalities should be kept out of political slugfest and their names should not be used to grab headlines by linking them with fictitious stories.”

Konda Suerkha on October 2 reportedly stated that politician KT Rama Rao had allegedly asked for sexual favours from Samantha in order to not demolish the N Convention centre owned by Nagarjuna. She further stated that when the actress refused to give in, a rift was formed between her and Akkineni family which led to her divorce with Naga Chaitanya. However, the Akkineni family and Samantha called it a baseless allegation. A defamation case has been filed by Nagarjuna against the Minister.
Konda Surekha in the public press meet also claimed that many actresses in Tollywood are forced to leave the industry because of KTR and alleged that Rakul Preet Singh also got married early for the same reason.
