Even with the drama, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has given a shout-out to Vanga, applauding his ability to score big without splurging on a massive budget or flashy VFX.Talk about a wild success!
Varma highlighted that audiences have diverse tastes and may prefer different types of films. He expressed disbelief that the same viewers would enjoy both Gadar 2 and Animal. Just like people have varied preferences for different dishes, film tastes are equally diverse. It’s not about sticking to just one genre or style.

He also pointed out that modern stars often face immense pressure to take on high-budget projects. This drive stems from competition among them, where each big star aims to grow their fanbase and market to make increasingly grand films. This ambition typically requires substantial VFX, production, and design expenses.
RGV lauded Vanga for breaking the mold with Animal, emphasizing its modest production scale. He pointed out that despite being a budget-friendly film, Animal outperformed many high-cost productions featuring big stars like Ranbir Kapoor in Brahmastra and Shamshera. Varma highlighted that success doesn’t always follow traditional rules of big budgets and extravagant production values.
When asked if Animal’s success might inspire other filmmakers to adopt a similar approach, Varma was doubtful. He questioned whether other low-budget films would achieve similar success, noting that Animal was an anomaly in a landscape dominated by high-production-value projects. Varma pointed out that Aamir Khan had already demonstrated the potential for both small and big films to succeed over 25 years ago, but he doesn’t see this trend being followed by current filmmakers.
