In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Payal Kapadia opens up about how the collaboration between her and Rana took place. She said , “I had a lot of different distributors meeting me but I really liked the sensitivity they ( Rana’s Company) had towards placing the film amongst so many other films which are going to come out. The way they were thinking this film could reach a larger audience was not like a standard thing, they had really thought about how they would distribute it and I felt that they would do it with sensitivity.”
She also shared that Rana had personally seen the film and he shared his thoughts about the film, the two of them also had a long conversation about the film.
Payal also shared that being the distributor Rana never asked for any changes in the film. One is often told to add or delete things from a film to make it more saleable, but Rana didn’t do any such thing. Payal said, “That is the reason we went with Spirit , they didn’t want to change the vision of the film , they were going with the point that this is your film, let us try to do our best to put it out to the world, let us find a way for that and I think is a very international way of distribution mindset.”
