In a recent interview, Ranbir Kapoor discussed various aspects of his life, including his past relationships, his marriage, his parents and fatherhood. Calling himself a bit of an ‘indifferent’ person, Ranbir admitted that while he loves his older sister Riddhima, they are not as close as they would like to be.

While talking to Nikhil Kamath, Ranbir said, “Sister is two years elder to me.

I love her, we shared a room till I was in the seventh grade. I was 13 and she was 15. She used to beat me up because she was bigger than me. She was chubby. But when I grew in size, I used to beat her. But then she left for her further education to London. By the time she came back, I went to New York. By the time I finished and came back, she got married. I missed out on the good years of bonding with her.”
He further added that her being in a different city too, comes with limitations. “She’s married in Delhi, she has a beautiful 13-year-old, her name is Samara. I love my brother-in-law. Great, super guy. His name is Bharat. She’s happy, she’s in a good space. I’m happy for her, but I’m not as close to her as I’d like to be. It goes back to being that indifferent, detached person,” he said. He added that things have now changed with the birth of his daughter, Raha. “Now that I have a daughter, it’s making me question that detachment and indifference. I feel like I’ve just been reborn. The 40 years I’d lived before her was another life,” he added.
In the same interview, the actor revealed that he never had a close relationship with his father, actor Rishi Kapoor, and admitted that he did not cry when his father passed away after battling cancer. He expressed that while he loved and respected his father, he stopped crying early on.
Ranbir also shared that he experienced a panic attack upon learning of his father’s death. Interestingly, he recalled that even when his father cried in front of him during treatment in New York, he couldn’t bring himself to hold or hug him, which made him realize the emotional distance between them.

The ‘Animal’ actor went on to say that he had sought help from a therapist once, but it didn’t prove beneficial for him. Despite this, he emphasized that there is no shame in seeking help or expressing one’s emotions if someone is not feeling mentally well. He also mentioned that discussing mental health openly remains a challenging topic.
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently filming for Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated project, ‘Ramayana’. In this much-awaited film, Ranbir is set to portray the role of Ram, while Sai Pallavi will take on the role of Sita. The film will also feature Arun Govil as Dashrath and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi.
Besides this, Ranbir will begin working on their second film together, ‘Love & War’, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and featuring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
