Randeep Hooda Dismisses Boycott Culture as a 'Social Media Hoax' | Filmymeet

Randeep Hooda recently opened up about the cancel culture on social media, wherein netizens call the boycott of a particular of star. When asked if such trends impact the prospects of a movie, the star stated that doesn’t care about the boycotts and that it is just a ‘social media hoax.’
While speaking at the India Today Mind Rocks 2024 Youth Summit, Randeep opined that any kind of popularity is good, arguing that the real issue arises when one is not the subject of discussion at all.He emphasized that sensationalism should not be a tactic for gaining attention. He stated that ‘Boycott culture is a social media hoax’ and according to him, a film’s success or failure is more influenced by the quality of its trailer and the appeal of its actors rather than any online boycott movements. He further added, “People watch a film because they like the trailer or actor in it. It has nothing to do with this boycott culture. I don’t care about it at all. I have been cancelled many times. I am here bro.”
Speaking at TOI Dialogues recently, Randeep had given an insight into the challenges he faced while making his last film, the biopic ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’. The film was labeled as propaganda and the actor shared, “Making the film was very difficult, like the person himself. Things have become black and white nowadays; there is no grey area. Left and right wing belong to the same bird.” He also spoke about receiving no support from Bollywood for ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ and added, “Bollywood gave zero support for Savarkar. I make films for the audience, not them.” However producer Sajid Nadiadwala did stand in support of the actor.
