Rhea Chakraborty reveals she suffered from depression and PTSD after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death; Aamir Khan refers to it as a ‘tragedy’: ‘Insaan toot jaata hai’ | Hindi Movie News Filmymeet

Rhea Chakraborty, who recently returned with her podcast Chapter 2, has opened up about her road to recovery and forgiveness. Following the unexpected death of her boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020 and the extreme public scrutiny she faced, the actress underwent a lot of turmoil. She also disclosed the true motivation for her decision to launch her own podcast.
Actor Aamir Khan complimented the actress’s bravery in their conversation on the most recent episode of her podcast. He remarked, “What happened with you, I would call it a tragedy. The way your life changed after that, and the way you have shown patience and strength, you didn’t lose hope or faith in yourself. We all can learn a lot from that. A person’s morale breaks and gets crushed. You are starting your second chapter.”
Rhea said that she believes that an army upbringing can have a significant impact on an individual. Growing up in the military teaches a person the harsh realities of life and instils a sense of resilience and determination. She further added that this upbringing ingrains a sense of hope and perseverance in one’s DNA, making them difficult to defeat. To which, Aamir Khan added, “You have shown remarkable courage and you should be proud.”
During the conversation, Rhea disclosed that it took her years to get out of depression. “It took me so long to start chapter 2 is because I was healing all this while. There was pain, anxiety, PTSD, and whatnot. And grief has a veto power over everything else. You could be talking to someone, and you get engulfed by grief out of the blue. There were some of the things, but today I feel that I have renewed energy. I feel like meeting people, my curiosity has been revived. There was no interest in knowing about others and their lives. There’s depression conditioning your mind. After overcoming that, now I feel like the sun is rising again. I feel like doing new things.”
Rhea also talked about her true motivation for launching her own show. She said that one of the primary reasons for the initiation of a podcast was the excessive sensationalism present in the media landscape. Despite attempting to participate in interviews on several occasions, the experience did not sit well with her. She further added that a previous appearance on a podcast, where the host assured a friendly and non-journalistic conversation, only worsened the discomfort. As a result, the decision was made to prevent the release of that particular podcast episode.
She stated, “At least, in case of traditional media, I know how they are going to approach things and I go prepared. It was that day that I decided that I want to create a safe space where I want to speak to people.”
Aamir Khan added, “The people who think you are wrong even today because they were informed wrong, I hope they eventually realise your truth.”
After Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in his Mumbai residence, Rhea Chakraborty had to deal with a lot of trolling. She was accused of obtaining drugs for the deceased actor, which led to her arrest in September 2020. In October 2020, following a 28-day stay in Byculla jail, the actress was granted bail.
