Ridhi Dogra is making a steady shift to the big screen after establishing herself with numerous popular television roles as she is taking on significant roles in both films and web series. She had a prominent role in two big movies in 2023 alone: Maneesh Sharma’s ‘Tiger 3’, which starred Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, and Atlee’s ‘Jawan’, which featured Shah Rukh Khan. She subsequently demonstrated her versatility by working in ‘Mumbai Diaries 26/11’ on Prime Video and ‘Badtameez Dil’ on Amazon miniTV.
During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Ridhi confirmed her involvement in an interesting project with Pakistani star Fawad Khan. Riddhi disclosed that the film, which is titled ‘Abir Gulaal’, also stars Vaani Kapoor. Ridhi candidly expressed her feelings when asked if she was hesitant to collaborate with Fawad because of his nationality. To which, Ridhi replied, “I am proud to be an Indian. Since my childhood, everyone has said that I will move abroad… But I don’t want to move.”
Ridhi kept sharing her thoughts on art that transcends national borders. She stated, “Wherever a person hails from… I do not think there is division in art. Whenever we watch something, be it a play or a movie, we see only those characters. We don’t ponder what the person’s (the actor’s) name is or who all are there in their house. We don’t see all that; we don’t see nationality.”
She went on to say that she made sure it was okay to collaborate with a Pakistani actor, saying, “The only thing I checked was if I was allowed to work with someone of the said nationality. And yes, our country and government give us permission. I did that homework. If that wasn’t the case, I wouldn’t have done the film.”
Fawad and Vaani play the main roles in ‘Abir Gulaal’, a romance directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, who is also renowned for Chalti Rahe Zindagi (2024), which starred Seema Biswas, Barkha Sengupta, and Rohit Khandelwal. The movie is now under development and is expected to release in summer 2025.
On the work front, Ridhi is gearing for her upcoming release ‘The Sabarmati Report’, which is directed by Dheeraj Sarna. It is based on the 2002 Godhra train burning incident. It also stars Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna.
