Survived by two sons and five grandkids, Maggie Smith etched a mark on millions of hearts with her acting prowess. The news of her demise left everyone in shock, and social media is packed with posts mourning the demise of the veteran actress.
Bollywood stars have also taken to their social media handles to express their grief. Kareena Kapoor Khan, took to her Insta stories to share a picture of the late actress and with the same, she wrote a message – “Forever in Power” with a star and red heart emoji. Bebo also mentioned a Downton Abbey quote in respect of Dame Maggie Smith that read – “I am a woman dear. I can be as contrary as I choose.”
Further, the ‘Call Me Bae’ actress Ananya Panday also reposted an image of ‘Harry Potter’s beloved star Professor Mcgonagall with a red heart emoji.
Another actress who expressed her admiration for the Hollywood star is Sonam Kapoor. Resharing a picture of the ‘Downton Abbey’ actress, Sonam wrote – “What a dame what a lady and what a life.” The news of Smith’s demise left Parineeti Chopra heartbroken as well. The ‘Amar Singh Chamkila actress paid her tribute to Smith by mentioning – “legend forever”.
Maggie Smith’s sons confirmed the news that the actress breathed her last at the age of 89. In a statement issued by them, they mentioned “She passed away peacefully in the hospital early this morning, Friday, 27th September. An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end. She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother.”
