The 70th National Film Awards, announced on August 16, 2024, were a celebration of regional cinema’s remarkable contributions to Indian film. Kannada cinema, in particular, stood out with ‘Kantara’ and ‘KGF 2’ leading the charge. ‘Kantara,’ directed by Rishab Shetty himself, won the award for Best Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and ‘KGF 2’ won the Best Action Direction.
