Sachin Pilgaonkar recently shared that he, along with Amjad Khan, shot some scenes of ‘Sholay‘ as part of Ramesh Sippy’s directing team. He now claims that his words were misquoted and that he feels “scared” to talk about ‘Sholay’ anymore due to people searching for controversies.
He added that he didn’t clarify the misunderstanding with Ramesh Sippy, trusting their bond and knowing the director would never think poorly of him.Notably, Sachin also played a role in the film.
In a conversation with Radio Nasha, Pilgaonkar expressed frustration over being misquoted when discussing ‘Sholay’. He clarified that people often twist his words, leading to misunderstandings. “I am very scared to talk about ‘Sholay’. I have to be careful when I talk about it because people misquote me. I say something, and people write something else,” he mentioned.

Sachin emphasised his deep respect for Sippy, calling him a guru from whom he learned a lot. Although he didn’t contact Sippy to address the confusion, he is confident the director wouldn’t be upset. However, Sachin admitted that the misinterpretations bother him and those who care about him, adding that people seem eager to stir up controversies.
In a recent chat with Kunal Vijayakar on his YouTube channel, Sachin revealed that Ramesh Sippy selected him and Amjad Khan to represent him in the second unit of ‘Sholay’. He explained that Sippy wanted to film some action sequences without the main stars, and he enlisted Mohammed Ali, a well-known stunt filmmaker, to direct. Along with Ali were action director Azim Bhai and two Hollywood professionals, Jim and Jerry, who needed guidance about the film. Sachin humorously noted that at the time, he and Amjad were considered the “two useless people” in the unit.
In the same conversation, Sachin explained that the director primarily focused on filming scenes with the film’s main stars, Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, and Sanjeev Kumar. He noted that Sippy would come to the set only when the stars were scheduled to work, while Sachin and Amjad Khan managed the remaining scenes.
