The house firing incident at Salman Khan‘s residence on April 14 shocked the nation, prompting an intensive investigation by Mumbai’s Crime Branch. The latest development in the case involves the filing of a comprehensive 1735-page charge sheet under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against nine individuals, including the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
According to ANI, the Mumbai Crime Branch has filed the chargesheet, which meticulously details the involvement of six arrested accused: Harpal Singh, Vicky Kumar Gupta, Sagar Kumar Pal, Mohammed Rafiq Sardar Choudhari, the late Anuj Thapan, and Sonu Subhashchandra Bishnoi. Additionally, three wanted accused, including Lawrence Bishnoi, have been named in the chargesheet.
An official revealed to PTI that the chargesheet comprises three volumes of investigation documents. These documents include statements from 46 witnesses recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC, confessional statements under the MCOC Act, 22 panchanamas, and various pieces of technical evidence.
The Bishnoi gang connection to the case is particularly noteworthy. Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has claimed responsibility for the firing outside Salman Khan’s house. Mumbai police recovered an audio recording from one of the arrested suspects, which forensic verification confirmed to be Anmol Bishnoi’s voice.
Anmol Bishnoi, who resides in Canada and is on India’s Most Wanted list, played a crucial role in orchestrating the attack. He motivated the shooters, facilitated the delivery of weapons to Panvel on March 15, 2024, and provided detailed instructions on executing the shooting at Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartment. The shooters were paid Rs 3 lakh for their work, as planned by Anmol Bishnoi, who remains at large and is red-flagged by authorities worldwide.
