Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti have gotten together to make a documentary series on the legendary writer duo Salim-Javed’s life. Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar were the best writers Hindi cinema has ever seen and this new documentary series captured their life, how they got together and the kind of command they had over the industry at that point in time.
The trailer launch event saw Salim and Javed, along with their entire family. Salman Khan was seen in the most peppy, fun mode at the event as he heaped praises on the writer-duo. The actor said talking about them, “I’ve worked with many writers and they write well. But Salim-Javed didn’t just write, they thought. They put their own life experiences and what they saw in the society into their writing.” He further added, “God makes many men, but today, men do not know how to act like men. They don’t know how to be men. But Salim-Javed were the real men.”
When asked everyone to pick their favourite Salim-Javed dialogue, Salman first joked, “Swagat nahi karoge inka?” He further added and laughed loudly, “Mere paas Maa hai, woh bhi do do.” Who doesn’t remember this iconic scene between Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan from ‘Deewar‘ and this dialogue?
For those not in the know, Salman referred to having two mothers in his real life. Salim Khan was married to Sushila Charak and later he also married Helen and he lives with both of them. Salman and his brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan bond equally well with Helen.
Meanwhile, one of the major highlights of the event was that Salim-Javed have announced their re-union. Javed Akhtar announced that he has spoken to Salim Khan and they’ve decided that they should write one more movie atleast. He further joked, “Uss zamaane mein hamara price itna zyada tha, toh aaj toh aur bhi zyada hoga. Sab log yeh dhyaan rakhe (In that era, our price was so high, today it would be even more, everyone should take note of that.)
Salim-Javed’s documentary series is called ‘Angry Young Men’ and it will begin streaming on August 20.
