Actor Saqib Saleem, known for his versatile roles in films like 83 and Rangbaaz, has teamed up with his longtime friend Sonakshi Sinha for the upcoming horror-comedy Kakuda. The biggest draw for Saleem was the chance to share the screen with Sonakshi, with whom he has enjoyed a close friendship for years. The two had previously worked together on 2018 film Race 3, but it was not a part of the film.Saleem told mid-day, “Technically, this is the first time we are sharing screen space, but we had done a song together for Race 3 that never made it to the final cut,”
Saleem went on to praise Sinha’s no-nonsense approach to her craft, noting that she simply arrives on set, delivers her performance, and then gets back home. “Sonakshi and I have been friends for a while. We have a great understanding, and that makes our scenes together authentic. She is the most professional actor I have come across. I have tremendous respect for her, even more now that I have worked with her.” The actor also revealed that their friendship has brought a sense of ease to the set, which also helps them to push each other creatively

Kakuda, which also stars Riteish Deshmukh as a ghost-hunter, is a horror-comedy set in a small town cursed by a spirit. Saqib Saleem stated that his excitement to explore the genre, as well as the opportunity to work with director Aditya Sarpotdar, were key factors in his decision to take on the project. Saleem is in love with the genre, he was drawn to the script’s ability to balance chills and humor, a combination he has enjoyed in films like Stree and Bhediya.
