Sarfira box office collection week 1: Akshay Kumar starrer earns just over Rs 18 crore | Hindi Movie News Filmymeet

Akshay Kumar has been having a lean run at the box office with none of his films, from Bade Miyan Chote Miyan to Mission Raniganj and Selfiee to Raksha Bandhan, getting in the moolah. While his latest release Sarfira, which is an official remake of Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, was expected to change the fortunes of the superstar but unfortunately the film is struggling at the box office.This film is directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the original movie, which starrer South Superstar Suriya in the lead.

On its first day, Sarfira opened to Rs 2.5 crore, and with strong word of mouth publicity, the film picked up on Saturday and Sunday and earned Rs 4.25 and Rs 5.25 crore respectively. But Monday onwards, the film scored low numbers. Sarfira earned Rs 1.45 crore on Monday, Rs 1.95 crore on Tuesday, Rs 2.15 crore on Wednesday and Rs 1.25 crore on Thursday, as per early estimates by Sacnilk. Thus the total collection of Sarfira now stands at Rs 18.80 crore.
The film had clashed with Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 at the box office, while the veteran actor’s film has also been struggling but it still managed to earn Rs 70 crore. Akshay Kumar has a string of films like Sky Force, Housefull 5 and Welcome to the Jungle in the pipeline.
