Renowned Bollywood singer and composer Shekhar Ravjiani, of Vishal-Shekhar fame, recently revealed a life-altering challenge he faced two years ago. Shekhar Ravjiani’s Heartbreaking Revelation: ‘Lost Voice… I Remember Tears…’
Reflecting on the trying time, Shekhar posted on Instagram, “I was destroyed. Honestly, I was pessimistic… I thought I would never be able to sing again.” The singer admitted that the condition took an emotional toll on him and his family, who were equally worried.
Determined to get back, Shekhar kept working and sought help. When in San Diego, he made contact with Dr. Erin Walsh through a Zoom call because COVID-19 restrictions were still being placed on people. Shekhar recalls to this effect, “I remember tears rolling uncontrollably down my face as I could tell her that I wanted to sing again.”.
Dr Walsh’s sheer optimism and commitment proved to be a catalyst of change. “She convinced me I could sing again, which was the first step,” Shekhar said. Weeks of concentrated effort and, lo, his paralysed vocal cord normalised.
The 45-year-old composer described the journey as emotionally taxing and recalled moments of despair when he hated the sound of his voice. But with Dr. Walsh’s encouragement and persistence, not only was his voice back but his confidence as well.
