Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra face Rs 90 lakh fraud and cheating allegations involving gold investments | Filmymeet

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra continue to court controversy, the latest one being a fraud and cheating complaint. The Mumbai sessions court instructed the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) police station to look into accusations of cheating leveled by a bullion trader against actor Shilpa and her businessman husband. This directive came after the court noted that the complaint, filed by Prithviraj Kothari, managing director of Riddhi Siddhi Bullions, suggests the possibility of a recognizable offense.
In an order passed on Tuesday, additional sessions judge N P Mehta said “prima facie cognizable offence is made out” against Shilpa and Raj, their company – Satyug Gold Private Limited – as well as two directors and an employee of the firm. According to PTI, additional sessions judge N P Mehta directed the police to file an FIR against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for cheating and criminal breach of trust “if any cognizable offence is found to have been committed by accused persons.”
According to the complaint filed by advocates Harikrishna Mishra and Vishal Acharya on behalf of the bullion trader, Kundra and Shetty introduced a scheme in 2014. Under this scheme, investors were reportedly required to pay the entire amount for gold at a discounted rate upfront upon application. Subsequently, a specified quantity of gold would be delivered on the maturity date.
The plea mentioned that the complainant had invested Rs 90,38,600 in a 5-year plan, expecting to receive 5,000 grams of 24-carat gold on April 2, 2019. However, the promised gold was never delivered on the agreed-upon date or thereafter. The complaint alleges that by promoting a fraudulent scheme, the accused conspired and colluded to commit an offense punishable under relevant sections of the IPC for cheating and criminal breach of trust.
The celebrity couple is yet to comment on the matter.
