Stree 2 has already written box office history over the last 41 days, as it went on to become the second biggest Hindi film of all time. However as it progresses to become the biggest Hindi film beating Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, the film has lost much of its space.
Over the past 40 days, the film has earned about Rs 579 crore, with Rs 1.35 crore being earned on the 40th day.It was the film’s lowest collection till then, but on 41st day, the film’s collection dipped even further as it collected just Rs 1.25 crore, taking the collection of the film to Rs 580.25 crore.
Stree 2 now requires a little over Rs 2 crore to beat Jawan’s collection of Rs 582.31 crore in the sixth week itself. Jawan has reached the magical number in its 8th week.
Even if Stree 2 surpasses Jawan’s Hindi collections, it is unlikely to affect Jawan’s position on the list of Indian cinema’s biggest hits. Jawan firmly holds the 5th spot with ₹640.25 crore, and it seems Stree 2 will face challenges in crossing that mark, making it difficult for the film to climb higher on the all-time box office list.
Stree 2 is part of Dinesh Vijan’s expanding horror-comedy universe, which already includes Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon from Bhediya and Abhay Verma and Sharvari from Munjya. The universe will soon welcome vampires in an upcoming film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. Additionally, the makers are planning a spin-off focused on Shraddha Kapoor’s character to delve into the backstory of Stree, further enriching the shared universe.
