Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao led Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, has been busy rewriting box office history since the day of its release, and over the weekend it added another feather to its already heavy cap.

The film in its first four weeks, minted Rs 539.35, it started its fifth weekend on a slow note by collecting just Rs 3.35 crore, but saw a jump on Saturday to mint Rs 5.4 crore and Sunday collection reached Rs 7 crore, as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 555.1 crore.
Stree 2 is only the second Hindi film to cross the Rs 550 crore mark at the box office. It is now aiming to beat the lifetime Hindi collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan which had collected Rs 582.31 crore.
By minting Rs 555.1 crore it has beaten the all Indian box office record of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, which had minted Rs 553.87 crore ( Rs 502.98 Hindi), making it the sixth biggest film of Indian Cinema behind names like SRK’s Jawan ( Rs 640 crore) , Prabhas’ Kalki (Rs 646 crore) , NTR Jr and Ram Charan’s RRR( Rs 782 crore) , Yash’s KGF 2 ( Rs 859 crore) and Prabhas- SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2- The Conclusion ( Rs 1030 crore) .
Stree 2 also features Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Pankaj Tripathi, with special appearances by Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, and Tamannaah Bhatia. The makers are considering a spin-off focused on Shraddha Kapoor’s character, exploring the backstory of Stree. The film is part of Dinesh Vijan’s Horror-Comedy universe, alongside Bhediya and Munjya. Soon, vampires will join the mix with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming film, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar.
