Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again has surpassed the 200 crore mark a little over a week of its release, making it the most successful franchise of the series. The Ajay Devgn actioner also stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in key roles, however, surprising to many, there is no romance angle to their characters.
Recently, while talking to India Today Digital, Rohit Shetty opened up on the same, and said it was a conscious decision to take. He said, “When you are dealing with Ramayan, you are dealing with everybody’s emotions; that includes my emotions as well. We introduced him when the chapter of Hanuman was being told. It was easy for us to cater to the Deepika and Ranveer [chemistry]. But it was a conscious decision, as you can see there are even no songs in the film. You don’t want to hurt anyone emotionally. And when you are dealing with Ramayan, you have to be very careful. So, them not coming together or having a banter was because of the reflection [of their on-screen characters.”
He further added, “We had to be careful, and it was the most important thing while we were writing, shooting, or even editing. We were always clear about what Ranveer could not do, or Bebo [Kareena Kapoor], or other characters, because as I said, we didn’t want to hurt anyone. We were also scared when the film was releasing. Only by Friday evening (the day of release), were we finally happy and relieved.”
Earlier, in a video shared by ETimes, Rohit Shetty spilled the beans on his plans for another franchise, ‘Golmaal 5’. While posing for a few pics for paparazzi, Rohit Shetty was asked by one fan regarding the updates on ‘Golmaal 5’, to which he responded by saying, “Have a little patience.”
Rohit Shetty playfully added a line from the film ‘All The Best’ as he said, “Dhondu Just Chill.”
Earlier in an interview with ANI, Rohit Shetty said that he will be taking a break from the cop universe and will be working on some light-hearted entertainers. He also added that ‘Golmaal’ will be the next project he will take up.
On the other hand, in another interview, Rohit Shetty also said that people asked him why he is not making films like ‘All The Best’. Talking to Pinkvilla, the ‘Singham Again’ director said, “Suddenly ‘All The Best’ is becoming like a cult. People asked me, ‘Why aren’t you making All The Best? Dhondhu, don’t just chill like that.’”
