Bobby Deol and Suriya are all set for a major face-off in the fantasy action film ‘Kanguva‘, directed by Siva. During a recent press conference in Mumbai ahead of the film’s release on November 14, director Siva revealed how he ended up choosing Bobby for the villain role and how he has admired the actor’s screen presence since childhood.
Siva described Bobby as a fantastic actor and a great human being. The filmmaker admitted to having a lot of fun on set with the actor and said he learned a lot from him. “I have been watching his films since childhood, like ‘Gupt’ (1997) and ‘Soldier’ (1998). I have been a big fan of his work,” he said.

“I saw a clip of him on Instagram. He was getting out of a car at the airport, and the kind of swag he carried inspired me (to cast him for ‘Kanguva’). I was waiting to find my Udhiran, the character Bobby sir plays in the film,” Siva explained how he chose Bobby for the villain role.
In his latest role, Bobby Deol steps into the intense persona of Udhiran, a feared and revered character within his clan. According to Siva, Udhiran is devoid of compassion, with a reputation that instills both fear and loyalty among his followers. “I can simply say that if Bobby sir was an animal in ‘Animal’ (2023), here he’s a wild animal!” Siva stated.
Siva expressed his admiration for Bobby’s performance, praising his impressive portrayal of the character. He highlighted the ‘Animal’ actor’s remarkable expressions, confident demeanor, charismatic screen presence, and action skills, noting how these elements significantly enriched the character. Siva conveyed his deep appreciation and gratitude to Bobby for adding such value to the role.
Bobby Deol and music director Devi Sri Prasad were scheduled to attend the press meet, but they could not make it to the event due to unknown reasons.
