Sneha Wagh opened up about transforming as divine Chhathi Maiyya in the show Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya.
Sneha Wagh, the TV actress known for her impactful roles in shows like Jyoti, Ek Veer Ki Ardaas…Veera, Neerja – Ek Nayi Pehchaan and more, is now portraying the divine Chhathi Maiyya in the beloved show Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya. Transforming into the goddess, Wagh dons a grand crown and heavy accessories to fully embrace the spiritual essence of her character. In a recent interview, Wagh shared her experience of playing Chhathi Maiyya, where taking on the role makes her feel as though she is “stepping into something divine.”
“When I get into Chhathi Maiyya’s look, it feels like stepping into something divine. It’s like I’m embodying a blessing-it’s hard to put into words. The whole transformation takes about an hour and a half, and the first time I saw myself fully ready, I didn’t recognise myself!” she said in an interview with FilmiBeat.
“Seeing myself in that divine avatar felt like I was looking at someone completely different,” she added.
Wagh opened up about the effort involved in achieving her look for Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya. She shared that while the process is challenging, it is also enjoyable especially since she loves dressing up. The intricate jewellery and accessories are “so detailed” that Wagh highlighted that it is not “something you do every day,” making her look feel special.
“The crown is the heaviest part, and at first, it was hard to handle. I have to take it off after every shot for some relief, but now I’ve gotten used to it. The long necklace and chunky bracelets are also quite heavy, but I’ve learned to enjoy the process. Even though it can be physically demanding, playing such a powerful and divine character makes it all worth it. Honestly, the excitement of dressing up outweighs the discomfort,” she added.
Sneha Wagh recently replaced Devoleena Bhattacharjee as Chhathi Maiyya in Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya, after she stepped down from the show due to her pregnancy. The show revolves around Vaishnavi, an orphan who finds strength and comfort in her deep faith in Chhathi Maiyya, who serves as a motherly figure in her life.
The series features a talented cast which includes Sara Khan, Jaya Bhattacharya, Brinda Dahal and Ashish Dixit.
