Bollywood director Amar Kaushik, who is basking in the success of ‘Stree 2‘ starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, recently revealed that his family wants him to work with Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
In a conversation with the YouTube channel Men Of Culture, Kaushik reveals how his family measures success in terms of collaborations a director has with Bollywood’s biggest superstars. He humorously recalled a conversation with his family, in which they said, ‘The day you work with Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan, then we’ll consider you a true director’.
Amar Kaushik stated that his family has always been enthusiastic about his collaboration with the superstars, however, he wants to stay on the ground and make films that touch the hearts of the people in this generation, especially the younger crowd.
Kaushik explains, “I respect the humongous attraction and fan following that Shah Rukh and Salman carry. However, I believe in making a film which shows my cut of style and vision.” He went on to explain how his work in the space of horror comedies, like ‘Stree’ is what makes him different from the commercial films the Khans’ star in.
The director further added that he loves trying out genres, and this fascination began during his initial days when he was directing ‘No One Killed Jessica’ and ‘Ghanchakkar’, which were offbeat from the mainstream narratives of Bollywood. He also added that such a chance to collaborate with Shah Rukh or Salman would be fantastic. However, Kaushik hinted that he isn’t in a rush to change his cinematic approach, and instead, he prefers to allow his work to speak for itself. Fans are eager to see what unique stories he brings to the big screen next.
