Taylor Swift‘s fans have rallied together to raise nearly £300,000 for the hero teachers and the children affected by the tragic stabbing incident in Southport, London. The attack, which took place at a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga class, left three young girls dead, two teachers and 5 other children in a critical condition, shaking the community and drawing prompt action from the singer’s dedicated fanbase.
The pop icon on Tuesday, expressed her profound shock and sorrow in a statement, saying, “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously and I’m just completely in shock.The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders. These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”

In the wake of the attack, Swifties, mobilised to collect funds and donations for the victims. The funds will support the families of Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Bebe King, 6, who lost their lives, as well as other victims who are being treated at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. Over 18,000 fans contributed to the fundraising efforts titled ‘Swifties for Southport’, which will also help cover medical expenses and provide support for the critically injured.

The organisers of the fundraiser stated, “We are working with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to help raise money for the families affected by the tragedy in Southport and raising funds for the three young Swifties who have tragically passed. Every donation goes directly to the verified charity, which will help make a difference to those impacted in a time of great sadness.”

Reports indicate that two teachers were critically injured while bravely protecting the children during the attack.

Leanne Lucas reportedly acted quickly to lead children to safety through a fire escape, while her colleague, Heidi Barlow, locked others in a bathroom stall to shield them from the attacker. Leanne’s aunt, Pauline Bennett, shared that Leanne is awaiting surgery and is primarily concerned with the children’s safety. Heidi’s exact condition remains unclear.
The event, advertised on social media, was a sold-out yoga, dance, and bracelet-making workshop for children aged 6 to 11. Many schools in Britain had just started their summer vacation, and the event was meant to be a fun gathering for young Swifties.
