Thalapathy Vijay has stamped his stardom in cinema after delivering blockbusters like Leo: Bloody Sweet, Varisu, Master, Mersal, Sarkar, and many more. His latest film The Greatest of All Time has also set the box office on fire, but when it comes to Hindi audiences, the film is having an average performance at the box office, despite that, the film has been able to beat the actor’s last release Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo : Bloody Sweet.
The film released on Thursday 5th September, and added just Rs 1.85 crore in Hindi, and saw a dip on Friday to collect just Rs 1.4 crore. But on Saturday, the film saw a major jump to collect Rs 2.35 crore, and Sunday it jumped higher to mint Rs 2.70 crore, thus taking the weekend collection to Rs 8.3 crore.
Ever since the release of Baahubali series, south cinema has been performing extremely well in the Hindi belt. But at a deeper level, this stands true only for Telugu films, Tamil films have still been struggling to match the Telugu numbers achieved by Baahubali or RRR or Pushpa, or even the Kannada film KGF. But on the brighter side, GOAT has been able to beat Vijay’s last release Leo: Boody Sweet’s Hindi numbers by a margin, the film had minted Rs 6.75 crore over the first weekend last year.
GOAT has already crossed the Rs 135 crore mark domestically, but it still has to face the Monday test. It would be interesting to see how the film pans out from here on.
The Greatest of All Time features Vijay in a dual role, and a star-studded cast of Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, and Meenakshi Chaudhary. It is the penultimate film for Vijay who will soon be taking a jump into the world of politics, he’s already formed his party and launched its flag and logo with Election Commision recognizing it as a political party on Saturday.
