The Tamil period action drama ‘Thangalaan‘ was released in theatres on August 15 and the film has alrady grossed more than Rs 40 crore at the box office. On day 10, Saturday, the movie earned Rs 1.5 crore and it is likely to run well in theatres for the second week as well.
Directed by Pa Ranjith, the movie features Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, Malavika Mohanan and Daniel Caltigarone in lead roles and the music for the film is composed by GV Prakash.The movie is based on real-life events of how people worked at the Kolar Gol Mines and how they duffered through the process while excavating gold.
Playing the titular role as Thangalaan, Vikram faces the wrath of a socesser Aarathi played by Malavika Mohana while he mines the hills for gold. ‘Thangalaan’ was released in Tamil and Telugu and with the immense response it received, the makers have decided to release the movie in Hindi as well and it will be out in theatres on August 30.
The movie is said to have a sequel and actor Vikram officially announced it at the film’s success meet. However, as both the actor and director has few commintements in place, it has not yet been confirmed when the film will start its shooting.
