Days after screenshots of the various characters were posted online, the official trailer that was screened at Comic-Con has now been released online. The video, sees Florence Pugh‘s Yelena Belova front and centre, as she reunites with her dad, the Red Guardian, played by David Harbour.
Debuting a much shorter hairdo, much like Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, Yelena’s journey picks up after the events of ‘Hawkeye’, where she admits she feels like she is ‘drifting’.In a bid to find a footing and meaning, she throws herself into some covert missions that leads her straight to a clash with John Walker, a.k.a. U.S. Agent played Wyatt Russell and Ghost played by Hannah John-Kamen and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
The clip also introduces audiences to the character “Bob” a.k.a Robert Reynolds or The Sentry, played by actor Lewis Pullman. Twitterati who caught the leaked clip noted the character’s belt buckle that has a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in the trailer.
Also making an appearance in the trailer is Sebastian Stan as Bucky aka the Winter Soldier. He is seen pulling out his Wakanda engineared arm from the dishwasher and getting ready to join forces with the Thunderbolts as they set out for their mission.
The clip ends with Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, meeting the odd bunch and saying, “Look at you, so adorable.”
The film also stars Harrison Ford as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, AKA Red Hulk, a role he’ll first take on in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’.
The Thunderbolts are a group of former Marvel villains, banding together to go on secret government missions. Thunderbolts* is set to arrive on the big screen on May 5, 2025.
