Rahi Anil took to his X account and mentioned that he would not be collaborating on ‘Tumbbad 2’. He further wished actor-producer Sohum Shah and co-director Adesh Prasad the best for the upcoming venture.
His post reads, “For decades, I have worked on this insane trilogy with many producers changing in between. The first was the greed of patriarchy (Tumbbad). My personal and much darker version of father, son, and the holy ghost. The second deals with the dawn of feminism and the holier-than-holy Sati Pratha — ‘Pahadpangira‘. The third and final installment of this trilogy will be ‘Pakshitirtha’. That’s all I have to say for now.”
He added, “I wish Sohum and Aadesh all the best for ‘Tumbbad II’. I have no doubts it will be an outstanding success. Following the completion of ‘Gulkanda Tales‘ and ‘Raktabhramand‘ by the end of this year, I plan to start production on ‘Pahadpangira’ in March 2025.”

Soon after, Sohum Shah reacted to the decision in the comment section, “Congratulations mere bhai (my brother) for ‘Gulkanda’ and ‘Raktabhramand’. Aur jaldi se shuru kar de (start soon) ‘Pahadpangira’. Maza aayega (It’ll be fun) (smile emoji).”
Rahi had a humble reply to this, “I am always there for you. Thanks for everything.” To which Sohum responded, “Likewise (flying kiss emoji).”
Starring Sohum Shah in the lead role, ‘Tumbbad’ follows the story of the protagonist’s search for a hidden 20th-century treasure in the Indian village of Tumbbad, Maharashtra.
