During its original release, the film met with limited success, but when the film dropped on OTT, it connected with audiences in a big way and on many occasions, it would trend on social media with fans asking for the sequel.And the magic of the film can be noticed with the fans filling up the theaters, and taking their love from OTT to the big screen with film minting about Rs 13.15 crore in the first week.
And on second Friday on the occasion of National Cinema Day, when ticket prices are as low as Rs 99, the film is expected to cross Rs 2.50 crore mark, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 15.75 crore. And with Friday collection, the re-release film has beaten Kareena’s latest film The Buckingham Murders, with a big margin, as Hansal Mehta’s directorial venture was able to mint only Rs 50 lakh.
In fact on its re-release, Tumbbad has minted more money than its original release, with trade experts expecting the film to add another Rs 10 crore to its kitty over the week.
The makers have added deleted scenes to the film to add to the allure, and have also announced a sequel to the film.
